Former footballer Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to raping multiple complainants and engaging in non-consensual acts with a additional complainant.
The international midfielder pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of rape and one charge of sexual assault when he stood before judges at Southwark Crown Court.
The reported offences took place between 2021-2022, when the 32-year-old regularly played in the English top flight. He was charged several days after leaving the London-based team, following the conclusion of his contract at the summer period.
Mr Partey was released on conditional bail until his trial, which is scheduled to begin at the same court on November 2nd next year.
He spoke to confirm his name before pleading not guilty to each of the charges made against him.
The professional player, who currently represents Spanish side Villareal, was present in the UK as his new team played Spurs in the Champions League on Tuesday. He was substituted as a substitute in what resulted in a 1-0 loss for his side.
The conditions of his release do not restrict Mr Partey from continuing his professional career, but he must inform authorities of any overseas trips 24 hours in advance and must not contact the alleged victims.
